We just wrapped up training camp in Gainesville, Georgia after two weeks of learning all about what we are going to be doing in Africa, as well as digging deeper into our relationship with God.

After being at training camp for a couple days, I quickly realized that there were things that I had never been introduced to that the people at Adventures in Missions so strongly believed in. At first it was discouraging and honestly a little alarming. I felt overwhelmed and didn’t know if I was where I was supposed to be. I ended up finding out that there were a couple other people who felt the same way as I did which made me feel way less alone. At first, I turned to other people and my family to voice my concerns and questions that I had, but I came to the realization that I was listening to what everyone else was saying instead of reading God’s word and deciding what He says is true. I feel like my faith has never been more tested than it was in the first week of training camp. I never want to base what I believe in on what one person says is true.

While I couldn’t wait for training camp to end so that I could get to Africa, I am so thankful for the time that we had there to be able to build relationships with the people that I’m going to be spending the next three months with. On one of the last days that we were there, we had squad wars which is where we had different competitions against the other two squads that are going to different countries. One of the competitions was a dance that we had to prepare ahead of time and then perform at the end of the games. My squad (R squad) ended up getting last in the competitions but first in the dance. My favorite game was where we had to leap frog over the people in front of us and then dig our heads in a bowl of flour to get a marshmallow out and run it back to a bowl on the other end of the line. Not to brag, but I was kind of amazing at it.

At training camp, I was given the tools and space to dig deeper into God’s word and prepare my heart and mind for what we are doing on the field. I am so grateful for everything that we were prepared for and cannot wait to see where the Lord takes me and my team as we venture out into the world. God is so so cool.

Thank you so much for following along and I cannot wait to keep y’all updated on all that God does through me and my team while in Africa.
